Rajsthan - A Land of RAJPUTS

 

Rajasthan is a northern Indian state bordering Pakistan. Its palaces and forts are reminders of the many kingdoms that historically vied for the region.

Rajasthan was actually a group of small Riyasats. It came into existence in 1950.

James Tod was the first one to use the name Rajasthan. He mentioned it in his book 'Annals and Antiquities of Rajast'han or the Central and Western Rajpoot States of India'.


Prior to that the land was called as Rajputana by the Britishers in 1800. The place was never untied so there is no defined boundary of Rajputana. As there were more Rajput kings, this leads to the name Rajutana.

Rajasthan is the biggest state in India and the area of Rajasthan is 342239 km square.

Rajasthan is famous for it's royalty, culture, food, people, heritage sites, fort, lakes, and many more.

History of Rajasthan






The history of Rajasthan dates back around 5000 
years. The Bhil and the Mina tribes are said to be its original inhabitants and the first Aryan settlement was established here. 
The recorded ancient history of Rajasthan dates back to 1200 AD. It was ruled over by the various dynasties including Mauryan Empire (321-184 BC) followed by the first Rajput dynasty during 700 AD. Rajput clans consolidated their rule (eighth - twelfth century AD) with 21 dynasties. So the region got named as Rajputana (the land of the Rajputs). Later period (1000-1200 AD) is marked by wars for supremacy among the Parmars, Chalukyas, and Chauhans rulers. 

In this medieval era (1200 AD), this region formed a part of Mughal Empire. Modern era starts with the British rule from 1817 to 15th August, 1945 when India became independent. 

Before independence Rajasthan is devided into 19 "Riyasat" and 3 "Thikana". 

"Bundi" is the Richest Riyasat. " KALIBANGA" is the oldest civilization in Rajasthan ( now in Hanuman) Which were contemporaries of the Indus Valley Civilization.

                        

Geography

Chambal, Bnas , Luni is the big rivers in Rajasthan. Area of Rajasthan is 342239 km square. 


Rajasthan is a part of Thar Desert. Rajasthan is fourth also domestic tourist place in India.

1. Battle of khanwa (1527)

Mohammad Gauri against Prithviraj Chauhan.

5. Battle of Rajasthan (712-740 A.D)

This battle is between Bappa rawal , Vikramaditya against Arab power of Umayyed & Abbasid caliphate.


Legendary warriors :- 


Maharana Pratap 

Maharana Pratap is one of the greatest warrior of Rajasthan . He is the son of Udai Singh. 

The Real Bahubali of Indian history is Maharana Pratap because of his personality and legendary power and also his horse " CHETAK'.





Maharana Kumbha ( kumbhakaran) 

Maharana Kumbha was the only warrior of Rajasthan who never lost in any battle in his entire life. 

Maharana Kumbha constructed 32 types of forts in his lifetime including Khumbhalgarh, Vijay Stambh, Kirti Sthambha and so on. 



Prithviraj Chauhan 

Prithviraj Chauhan was only Rajput king who sit on the throne of Delhi.


Prithviraj Chauhan had defeated Mohammad Gauri 16 times.

People in Rajasthan:-

Rajasthan is a province of variations or people of different castes and sects inhabit.

Due to the extreme climate there is very low population density.
