KHAJJIAR Mini Switzerland of INDIA

KHAJJIAR is a Hill station in Himachal Pradesh (INDIA).
KHAJJIAR is also called mini SCOTLAND  OF INDIA. 
KHAJJIAR is a beautiful place in between Himalayas and is famous for it's fabulous natural lakes and greenery. 




Khajjiyar is located in Delhousie. Often referred to as 'mini-Switzerland of India, which provides tourists a unique combination of forests, lakes and pastures.

Surrounded by round valley of deodars and pines trees. Though I went at a time when the snow has almost melted except in few areas..still it was worth it. Do not miss out walking on the adjoining narrow jungle trail to have a romantic yet natural experience .




A Lot of vendors will keep bothering you and also the adventure , and one thing one must do is Para Gliding (not for small hearts though) , they charge 1500 - 2000 RS for a trip , They will take to back to a hill on there jeep and a then to take off point , one two three and run like hell , before you are on the cliff you will realise you lost contact with ground and actually all over in the air.

You can also find a number other activities at the place such as Hot Air Ballooning, Horse riding , etc. If you loved nature then you love this place . Here is a thrill in the timelessness up there.

KHAJJIAR Lake 

KHAJJIAR Lake is the most spectacular of lake surrounded by Cedor forest .




The lake is popular tourist spot of KHAJJIAR where you numerous recreational activities or can enjoy beauty of landscape.

Nag Temple

Khajjiar is very famous for Kajji Naga Temple, which is in close proximity to the famous Khajjiar Lake.

 The temple stands decked with a golden dome and spire due to which it is known as Golden Devi's temple. 





It dates back to the 12th Century AD shrine dedicated to Naga- the lord of serpents and you will always find numerous idols of snakes at this place.

 This temple has a perfect blend of Mughal and Hindu styles of architecture as reflected in the wooden carvings on the ceilings and wooden posts.


Daikund Peak

Its a combination of sun and clouds. Green grass all around with mushroom surfing .
Place is at a climb journey of 30 mins but when you reach the top, you will feel worth climbing.





You can stay here for few hours and feel the place. Chilled air, sunset point, military aerospace area.

Panchpula 

Shrouded by a green blanket of pine and Deodar trees and enfolding refreshing water streams, the picturesque Panchpula has always been one of the most favorite spots of tourists in Dalhousie.




 It is a nice picnic spot, where you can spend some time with your family and friends and enjoy the loveliness of exotic waterfalls and refreshing streams.

 Some of these streams even contain medicinal properties that are helpful in healing skin diseases. 
The Panchpula is a scenic place, which is surrounded by picturesque mountains and green valleys and is only three kilometers from the main city of Dalhousie.


Kalatop Forest

The view when you reach is mesmerizing. There is a canteen which serves pakoras with chutney & tea. The guesthouse is the same as the one shown in the movie Lootera.

Devi Dehra Rock Garden 

Devi Dehra Rock Garden is created by natural water streams .
There is no entry fee for Rock Garden and it is 8 km from Banikhet.



Jandri Ghat Palace

Basically jandri ghat is a house of their local queen known as Asha Rahi, her palace was very beautiful.


Jhanri ghat is a suitable place for picknickers with it's rambling streams and air flow with pine fragrance.

How to reach KHAJJIAR ?

The town of Khajjiar is a part of Chamba district and is well connected to Chamba and Dalhousie (24 km) and can be easily reached via taxis. The nearest railway station is in Pathankot and then a taxi can get you to Khajjiar. Alternatively, you can reach to Chamba or Dalhousie by bus and then take a cab from there.
