Mysuru : Palace city of South India

Mysore is a city in Karnataka the state of India. Mysore was the capital of the Mysore kingdom from 1399 to 1950. 
Mysore is also known as Garden City of South India or the palace city of South India.



Mysore is very famous for its Heritage palaces and silk saree. Mysore has a large number of tourists all Year from all around the world.

Tourist places in Mysuru:- 
There are numbers of things to do and mysuru but I describe some of these as follows:-

Mysore Palace: - 

Mysore Palace is a Royal Residence of the Wadiyar royal family of Mysore, Karnataka.
The land of which the palace stands is known as puragiri or the old palace.
Yaduraj built the first Fort inside the old fort in the 14th century which was then constructed several times by the several kings of the Wadiyar royal family.







The old palace on the wooden Palace was born into Ashes during the 1896 Dussehra festival then the Maharaja Krishnaja wonder 4th and his mother Commission the British architect Henry Irwin to construct a new palace.

Brindavan Garden:- 

Brindavan Garden is a very beautiful garden and it is located near the Kaveri river the work of Brindavan Garden was started in 1927 and completed in 1932 the garden is spread in 60 acres and the fruit Garden is spread into 72 acres.










St Philomena's Cathedral:- 
St Philomena's Cathedral is a Catholic Church in Mysore. It was constructed in 1936 using a Neo-Gothic style and architecture is inspired by the Cologne Cathedral of Germany.

It is one of the tallest church in Asia.






The Maharaja of Mysore laid the foundation stone of the church on 28 October 1933. In his speech on the day of the inauguration, he said: "The new church will be strongly and securely built upon a double foundation — Divine compassion and the eager gratitude of men." The construction of the church was completed under Bishop Rene Fuga's supervision. The relic of Saint Philomena is preserved in a catacomb below the main altarThis church is a good example of the blending of local culture. The 1977 Hindi Bollywood Film Amar Akbar Anthony was shot at the location of St. Philomena's Church scenes were shot entirely inside of the Church.

Kukkarahalli lake:- 
Kukkarahalli Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Mysore the lake is constructed by Muhammad Krishna raja Wodeyar of Mysore in 1864 the lake provides water more than 10000 acres of land outside the city. 





The lake is also very famous for its different kinds of bird species who have traveled every year.

Folklore museum:- 

The folklore museum that contains representative collections of art and crafts from all over Karnataka. The museum was founded in 1968. It is located in the University of Mysore in the Manasagangothri campus in the Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion. 




Since its, the University of Mysore has contributed to the study of folklore, and the museum has been developed to its present level by scholars such as P.R.Thippeswamy, Javeregowda, and Jeesham Paramashivaiah. P.R.Thippeswamy brought material from all over Karnataka to increase the museum's collection. As a folklore museum, it not only showcases items but also elements of music, dance, and drama.





Jayalakshmi Vilas:- 

Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion Palace is a Royal Residence and it was constructed by Maharaja Krishna Raja Wodeyar in 1905 for the eldest daughter of Maharaja chamaraja, princess Jayalakshmi at the cost of 7 lakh rupees. 


The renovated mansion has 125 rooms, 300 windows, 287 exquisitely carved doors and it was spread across 6 acres (24,000 m2). There are entrances on each side, different from each other. The entrance on the northern side has an extrusion on the stairs presumably to be used as an alighting platform from cars and chariots. The mansion is chiefly built of brick and mortar, timber and iron. Stone was dispensed with considering the amount of delay it would have on construction if it were used. There are separated drainages for rainwater and used water.
